So as of December 24, the Epic Games Store free games is Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition, replacing the previously-available Vampyr. Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition was funded on Kickstarter and developed by Owlcat Games. Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition comes with a variety of bonuses that weren’t available in the original release, including quality of life improvements, new abilities, a new class, new items, improved balance, bug fixes, and more. The Epic Games Store free game for December 25 has not been officially announced, and fans won’t know what it is with 100% certainty until 10:00am CT that day rolls around. However, there have been legitimate Epic Games Store mystery game leaks that have proven true so far. Assuming the leak is completely accurate, then it seems like fans can expect the December 25 free game to be none other than Prey.
Prey is the 2017 reboot of the FPS Prey franchise, with this one developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda. Prey earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its release, and it will stand as one of the more significant free games given away during the mystery game promotion, assuming the leaks are true.
While Epic Games Store users may be excited at the possibility of getting Prey for free, they can snag Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition for their collection in the meantime.

While Epic Games Store users are opening the launcher to claim their free games, they can see wrapping paper teasing the next free game in the lineup. The wrapping paper has symbols on it that tease what the next free game or games will be, but fans don’t know definitively until they check the next day. When these are higher profile games it’s a bit easier to guess, but when it’s something more obscure like Encased, it’s more challenging for players to figure it out.

Regardless, Encased is free for Epic Games Store users to claim until Saturday, December 24 at 10:00am CT, at which point it will be replaced by the next free game or games. For those unfamiliar with Encased, it’s a tactical RPG that has been compared to old-school Fallout games. Encased earned mixed reviews at the time of its release last year, but fans of the genre may still want to give it a go. Anyone interested should be sure to head to the Epic Games Store launcher and snag Encased for their collection while they still can.
Epic Games Store Free Games December 23
Encased
Based on the wrapping paper for tomorrow’s free game, it seems highly likely that the Epic Games Store free game for December 24 will be from the Metro series. The post-apocalyptic Metro series of games have all been well-received, with three titles making up the franchise so far. Tomorrow’s free game could be Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, Metro Exodus, or something completely unexpected.
It’s possible that the December 24 free Epic Games Store game will be something other than a Metro game, though that seems unlikely. It’s also possible Epic Games Store users will be treated to all three Metro games at once, but that remains to be seen. The Epic Games Store did give away three Fallout games for free as part of the mystery games promotion, and it gave away three Tomb Raider games last year, so it’s certainly within the realm of possibility.
As usual, Epic Games Store users will have to return to the storefront on December 24 to find out what the next free game is. They can claim Encased in the meantime.
