The Reds will complete the deal once the medical is done and the deal will see the youngster join Liverpool Under-23 squad.

Juanma spent over a week on trial at the Merseyside club, during which he started as a left back for the Reds U-21 friendly against Welsh Premier League outfit Rhyl FC. The 19-year-old impressed during the match providing a perfect assist to Brook Lennon. Liverpool U-21/U-23 squad manager Michael Beale was keen on signing the youngster after an impressive debut.

While the Reds are looking to add a left back in the squad, Juanma may not be the solution to manager Jurgen Klopp’s problem as the youngster is not yet considered a viable option for the first team football as of now. The Spanish left-back will directly join Beale’s Under-23 side for the 2016-2017 campaign.

Reports suggest that La Liga outfit Villareal too were interested in signing the player however Liverpool were the preferred club for the player to join next season.

Juanma came through Barcelona’s La Masia Academy. The youngster has impressed as a versatile player who can play as a left-back or a centre-back. He made 17 appearances in the UEFA Youth League for the Catalan club, of which he was a captain for six of these matches. The youngster had played along with Madger Gomes and Pedro Chirivella in Spain and will be reuniting with his former teammates once he moves to Merseyside on a permanent deal.

Liverpool have earlier too brought in youngsters from the Barcelona youth academy. The Reds brought in Sergi Canos from the La Masia in 2013 and after having spent a few years at the academy and a successful loan spell at Brentford last season, the player moved to Norwich in a fee believed to be around £2.5m that may raise to £4.5m.

Garcia will be offered a permanent deal once the medical is done with.
