On his 83 Weeks Podcast, Eric Bischoff detailed why AEW should stick to their own thing rather than raise a dead horse, so to speak. He believes that AEW needs to be the alternative and not be retro. He also says that it’s not fresh or new but going backward rather than forward.
He also said that he could be wrong in his assessment and this could turn out to be for the better. He explained, ( H/T 411 Mania)
Like most, Eric Bischoff does have a right to his opinion. On one hand, efforts should be made to make AEW different from WWE. On the other hand, Cody Rhodes, in particular, has been dipping into WCW’s past with recurring legends to great effect and in that sense, that success has already been on display. It’ll be interesting to see what happens once Bash at the Beach gets underway.
