As a Heavy armor set in The Elder Scrolls Online, the Kynmarcher’s Cruelty set is oriented around Tanks and characters who don’t mind taking damage for others. Its full set bonus is one of the most interesting in the game as it randomly debuffs enemies around the player – in a sense, it’s the closest an armor set has come to just being a new version of Sheogorath’s Wabbajack.
The Kynmarcher’s Cruelty Set Bonuses
Type: Heavy Armor, Jewelry, Weapons Two Items Equipped: Adds 1206 Max. Health Three Items Equipped: Adds 129 Stamina Recovery Four Items Equipped: Adds 1487 Armor Five Items Equipped: Direct Damage applies one of five random debuffs to all enemies within eight meters that lasts for 18 seconds. Debuffs include Major Breach, Major Cowardice, Major Defile, Major Maim, and Major Vulnerability. This can happen every eight seconds and only affects enemies within eight meters at all times.
The Kynmarcher’s Cruelty set gives well-rounded stat bonuses to Tanks and heavy bruisers, though it doesn’t hone in on one particular stat boost. It adds 1206 Max Health at two items equipped, 129 Stamina recovery at three items equipped, and 1487 Armor at four pieces. The full set bonus is a little less simplistic, though.
When the player deals Direct Damage (not AoE) to an opponent, one of five random debuffs are applied to all enemies within eight meters. The effect chooses from Major Breach, Major Cowardice, Major Defile, Major Maim, and Major Vulnerability and lasts for 18 seconds. Because this effect can proc every eight seconds, it’s a near-guaranteed way to have two Major debuffs on surrounding enemies at all times as they can overlap. However, this only affects enemies within eight meters at all times, and if the player or the enemy moves away the debuff goes away.
Acquiring The Kynmarcher’s Cruelty Set
Location: Overland Set. Pieces all drop from Delve Bosses, World Bosses, Public Dungeon Bosses, and Trials. Requirements: None
The Kynmarcher’s Cruelty set is an Overworld set in the Deadlands DLC for The Elder Scrolls Online, and can’t be crafted at a specialty crafting station in the new zone or acquired through scrying like the three new Mythics. To find pieces to this set, players must take on Delves, World Bosses, Public Dungeons (the Atoll of Immolation), and other public content in the Deadlands.
It’s best to get to max level (and CP 160) before hunting down this set so that its bonuses are maxed out. The Elder Scrolls Online caps armor at Level 50 and Champion Point Level 160, so as long as you’re at 160 (or above) you should get the best possible pieces to the Kynmarcher’s Cruelty armor set in the Deadlands.
The Elder Scrolls Online is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S
